Jared Gilbey |
|
Jared Gilbey was born in 1968 and lived in Cornwall England until 1988. He studied Technical Illustration at Falmouth School of Art and Design, and at the age of twenty moved to London to start work as a freelance Illustrator. He lived and worked in London for 8 years, renting studio space from various design firms, and produced work for many major clients worldwide. In 1996 Jared left England to travel for two years. During this time his Inspiration to paint caught up with his career in commercial art. "The sea has been a huge inspiration and influence throughout my life. From the rugged Cornish Coast to the Palm fringed beaches of Aitutaki. Iv`e always been drawn to the ocean and its ever changing moods, and I`m constantly exploring the simplicity and diversity of colour to convey its majesty" In 1999 Jared moved to Brighton England. He had his first solo exhibition at The Brighton Artist`s Gallery of Contemporary Art. With fourteen of the twenty one paintings sold at his first show, Jared exhibited nationally, and went on to become BAG`s top selling artist In 2004 Jared and partner started a Gallery/Bar for the creative artistic scene in Brighton. This proved very popular with musicians and artists alike. There was regular live music and they continued exhibiting a very high standard of work. From his time running the bar, Jared has started work on a series of portraits of the clientele that used to frequent "The Bank" After too many late nights, Jared and his Wife Alicia moved to rural Queensland, Australia, where they live in their own piece of heaven. "I have lived in the city for twenty years, and having moved to Queensland, I love the open space and the freedom it allows, my inspiration is now on my doorstep" |
